This online calculation is for bead-on-plate welding. For welding inside a groove, the plate thickness to be input for the calculation should be less than the actual plate thickness (t8/5 longer than that for bead-on-plate is expected). For fillet welding, the thickness to be input should be higher than the actual thickness (t8/5 shorter than that for bead-on-plate is expected). However, the thickness to be input is unknown for both cases.
